Welcome

Welcome to my photoblog. I try to keep it updated daily with a new photo from either my personal or professional life. It is not intended to be taken as my professional portfolio (please visit the main website for that), but instead it is more of an informal and fun way for me to share some of my personality and creativity with you. Many of the photos on my blog are available for purchase as fine art prints, please visit the main website and/or contact me if you are interested. Enjoy!

So That's What Those Signs Are For

Today's shot for the "Photo a Day" project is called So That's What Those Signs Are For. If you walk along the Ottawa river bike path, you may have noticed these arrows in every other tree. I guess they tell the woodpeckers where the good stuff is! Ha Ha!

Grafiti

Ottawa has a few legal grafiti walls around the city, so earlier in the week a friend of mine at Jeffrey Meyer Photography and I thought we would go take a few shots of some of the work that we liked. These were some of the artistic grafiti paintings that I enjoyed.

Too Much?

There are two photos for Today's "Photo a Day" project and they are called Too Much? I setup my Canon 5D mkII with the Canon 2X Teleconverter, all three Kenko Extension Tubes (68mm) and the Canon 70-200 f2.8 IS. The best thing about this is that everything works and you can get some amazing macro shots with this setup! See these previous shots taken with this exact setup: Orange Canary, Tasty Tangerine, and Refreshing.

Aperture: f/13.0 and 5.0
Exposure: 1/125

Potty Humour

Today's shot for the "Photo a Day" project is called Potty Humour. They are some funny erasers that were given to me by a friend, who obviously knows my kind of humour. Unfortunately, their scale is slightly lacking, since neither the turd nor the plunger would ever fit in that toilet!

Aperture: f/2.8
Exposure: 1/80
Focal Length: 35mm
Flash: Not-Fired
ISO: 800
Post processing included levels adjustment, contrast adjustment, noise removal, and unsharp-mask

The Diefenbunker

The Diefenbunker. At the height of the cold war it was once a secret bunker just outside of Ottawa, built to house the Emergency Government Headquarters in case of a nuclear attack on Canadian soil. This massive 4 floor underground bunker was built not only to protect the safety of our Government leaders, but also to house all of Canada's gold bullion in a massive safe. After the cold war it was decommissioned and has become Canada's Cold War Museum. I visited the Diefenbunker earlier this year when we had Door's Open Ottawa, and I got plenty of interesting photos of the old school equipment and interesting relics still left in the museum. Enjoy!
